Winter/Snow day Essentials!

This past month I've gotten quite a lot of snow where I live. I love winter time; snuggling up in front of the fire with a good book and cup of hot chocolate is my ideal snow day! Here are some of my winter/ snow day essentials!

These are two of my must-have winter perfumes: Taylor Swift Enchanted Wonderstuck and Burberry Brit. The Taylor Swift fragrance is filled with berry, floral, vanilla notes with a musky, woodsy undertone. It's a wonderful scent for both day and night. Brit is much stronger with notes of vanilla, mahogany, amber, pear and almond. Brit is definitely my go to fragrance for a night out!

Winter days out in the snow leave my lip feeling cracked and super dry. I love the using the Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose Kiss to keep my lips moisturized. It's creamy texture isn't sticky at all which is something I look for in a lip product. The flavor is amazing too! My favorite lipstick this winter has been "Rebel" by MAC. It's a creamy dark plum color with a beautiful matte finish!

Keeping your skin moisturized is so important in the winter. With the cold and wind outside and the drying heat inside it's easy for skin to become flaky and dry. To prevent dry skin I use the Aveeno Positively Nourishing Whipped Souffle on my body and the Clinique Moisture Surge for my face. The Aveeno cream is thick and creamy and leaves a smooth nourished feeling to your skin. The Clinqiue Moisture surge is a gel consistency and is absorbed so easily! I love that this cream doesn't leave any oily residue on my skin but is still so moisturizing.

My favorite nail color this winter is "A Affair in Red Square" by O.P.I. The rich red color with a slight shimmer is perfect for the winter season. Texting gloves are a must have too! These grey and black gloves are from Pac Sun.

And last but not least, no snow day is complete without a yummy cup of hot chocolate! I love the Classic Hot Chocolate from Williams-Sonoma (with marshmallows on top of course!)

My September Birchbox

Last month for my birthday my cousin decided to get all of my aunts and uncles to pitch in and purchase me a year subscription to Birchbox! I have always wanted to do something like Birchbox but just never did. I was so surprised and happy to see the little pink box sitting on my doorstep one afternoon in August!
For those of you who don't know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription service that allows you to sample new beauty products each month! If you really like a product you can even purchase it straight from the birchbox website! I absolutely love getting my boxes so I thought I would share my thoughts on my items each month!

Amika Blow Up Spray (full prize: $24) - Prior to receiving my box this  month I had actually heard quite a few beauty gurus on youtube rave about this product so I was excited to see it in my September box! The spray claims to "add lift and major shine for the perfect blowout". Although the most does have a heavy floral scent at first it diffuses after a while and leaves just enough fragrance behind after blow drying. After using this product through my hair and concentrating it on the ends it looked significantly healthier, shinier and felt softer!

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara (full size: $24)- The packaging of this mascara was my favorite part! Instead of the typical hard plastic mascara tube, it came in a sample size squeeze tube! But, the actual mascara wasn't a favorite of mine. I found it made my lashes long but stuck together and did not hold the curl.

Dr. Lipp: Original Nipple Balm for Lips (full size: $14.50) - Upon first hearing the name of this product I was a little confused, as one would imagine. It turns out this balm was originally formulated to soothe and moisturize a nursing mother's most sensitive area. It was later found by makeup artists who discovered the balm to be a miracle worker on chapped lips, knees, and elbows. The Dr. Lipp balm is great for any intense dry spots on your body. It worked wonders on my dry, cracked elbows. It's also great to apply and let sink into your lips before lipstick. I cannot wait to whip this product out in the winter when chapped lip season arrives!

Ruffian Nail Lacquer (full size: $10)- This nail lacquer has one of the best formula's I have ever tried. In just one coat my nails were covered and full opaque. The brush is easy to use and just the right size. I personally was not a fan of the metallic green color sent to me, but I would definitely purchase this polish in another color!

Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream (full size: $39)- Being someone who likes a medium to full coverage face product, BB creams have never been something that has appealed to me. I have tried drugstore BB creams before and felt like they were just glorified tinted moisturizers. With this in mind I wasn't expecting much from the Dr. Jart BB Cream... boy, was I wrong! This product has wonderful pigmentation with a light, creamy formula. I was so impressed with how flawless my skin looked, yet I felt like I had no face makeup on. The BB cream lasted all day (with the occasional powdering of the T- Zone as per usual ) and it never went flakey or looked separated. If you're looking for a great coverage face product without the heavy, cakey feeling of foundation I would definitely try this out!

My Everyday Hair Care Routine

Being someone who has always had quite long hair I was taught at a young age to take care of my hair and keep it healthy. My hair is one of my favorite assets and I always like to make sure I'm doing everything I can to keep it healthy and strong.

For my current hair routine I have been using the Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. Since I have naturally straight hair I like to use the keratin formula to keep it frizz-free (it also helps get rid of any wave so that I can wear my hair straight with no heat!). I have also tried (and loved) the Coconut Milk formula from Organix and would highly recommend it along with any of their other hair products. They have so many formulas for all different hair types; and they smell yummy too!
My next product is not an everyday product but I wanted to include it anyway. The Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is my favorite deep conditioning treatment. I like to use this mask twice a week or after I have excessively heat styled my hair. After shampooing I apply it mainly to my ends and then work the rest toward my roots. I put my hair in a shower cap and let it sit for about 5 minuted then rinse. This mask leaves hair feeling soft, looking shiny and healthy, and smelling AMAZING. This is by far my favorite hair product I have every used.

After washing my hair I follow up with the Organix Brazilian Therapy Anti-Breakage Serum. I only use a pea size amount of this on my ends but it truly works wonders in keeping my ends for becoming dry and split.
If I'm not heat styling my hair I end my hair routine here but if I am heat styling I like to use the Redken Satinwear 02 Blow-Dry Lotion before blow drying my hair. This protects hair from the heat and gives it great texture. To add body I use the Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Daily Boost Root Lifter on my roots before blow drying. The combination of these two products gives the perfect salon-style blow out! After I blow dry I usually curl or lightly straighten my hair. To protect my hair from heat I use the Chi 44 Iron Gaurd. I have used this product for years and have yet to find a better heat protectant!
I hope this was helpful for anyone looking for some new hair products to try out! See you next time! xo
